Back in the 2009/10 season, West Ham fans were treated to having Alessandro Diamanti at the club. The Italian lasted just one season in England, signing from Livorno in summer 2009 before leaving just 12 months later for Brescia. However, after seeing the Italian’s latest Instagram post, it seems the Italian still loves The Hammers.

A lot of West Ham fans loved Diamanti in his sole season with the club and would do anything to have had him stick around a little bit longer. In his one season he racked up 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight times and registering six assists and a lot of fans have been looking back and wondering why he the club didn’t opt to build a team around the Italian.
Instead, the frontman was sold on to Brescia at a loss and some of the fans are still baffled by the decision. The Italian left a huge mark on The Irons and they’d have been desperate to see him stick around at the club a bit longer. His brilliance was recognised by the fans and even looking back now, over eight years after he was sold, there are supporters who can’t believe he was allowed to leave so easily.

Why did we sell him?

The Hammers on Twitter are still gutted over Diamanti and will be keen not to make the same mistakes they made with him with any future fan favourites.
