Loads of West Ham United supporters have been waxing lyrical about the performance of former goalkeeper Rob Green in their historical victory against Arsenal back in 2007.
The Hammers became the first team to beat the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium, winning the game 1-0 after a first half strike from forward Bobby Zamora (BBC Sport).
However, it was Green who received most of the plaudits after he somehow stopped Arsene Wenger’s side from scoring that afternoon. Indeed, the ex-England international made a string of fine saves during the 90 minutes, including ones to deny Gilberto Silva and Emmanuel Adebayor amongst others.
The 40-year-old played for the East London club for six years between 2006-12, racking up a total of 241 appearances in that time and keeping 62 clean sheets (Transfermarkt).
His display at the Emirates is certainly fondly remembered by plenty of West Ham fans, with many taking to Twitter to rave about it on the 13th anniversary of the game. One claimed that the shot stopper was ‘sensational‘ whilst another suggested that it was one of the ‘greatest individual performances‘ from a Hammers player.
