West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has reluctantly accepted that he must sign some new players before the January transfer window comes to an end, that is according to a report from the Evening Standard.
It is suggested that Sullivan will target signing two new players before the deadline passes in order to appease the increasingly angry Hammers fanbase.
This season has been a really poor one so far for the east London outfit. Indeed they had to sack manager Manuel Pellegrini in December after a run of nine defeats in 12 (BBC Sport) and his replacement David Moyes has failed to make a big impact since his arrival with just one league win in four (Transfermarkt).
As a result, they are firmly entrenched in a relegation battle and currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table, outside the relegation zone on goal difference (BBC Sport). Up until now the only addition they have made this January was re-signing goalkeeper Darren Randolph (BBC Sport), but it seems that there could now be more coming through the door.
However, despite apparently planning to sign a couple of players, most West Ham fans remain unhappy with Sullivan. They believe that it shows that there was never really an intention to bring new players in as they only reason he is now going ahead with signings is to appease the fans.
Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
Reluctantly sums up everything you need to know about their ambitions for this club

Unfortunately for him this will not pacify the angry fan base! His time is up… no escape this time. #GSBOUT

Ah, so he’s going to sign players NOT because we need them, but because of fan opposition – what a clown your dad is @jsullivanwhu, tell him to sell up please

Accepted it four days before it slams shut and is targeting loans and cheap deals. He really is an incompetent fool 😂

Reluctantly?? Even if we were flying high in the top 6 we should still be looking to sign players, that’s what good, well run clubs do, constantly improving. Another example of the fact he hasn’t got a clue about running a football club, no wonder we’re a laughing stock

So wrong headed, they planned to spend £0,now they’re looking for a couple of panic buys just to appease us,do these clowns not realise we’re bang in trouble?

So, not because he has identified, with a professional staff that the team needs reinforcements. He’s just trying to dodge the bullets that are coming towards him. Shambles.
