West Ham: Fans react as report suggests Darren Randolph will return to the club

West Ham United are set to seal the signing of Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph for a fee of £4 million, that is according to The Athletic correspondent Roshane Thomas.

The Republic of Ireland international of course played for the Hammers between 2015-17 before leaving to join Middlesbrough, but a return to the east London side now looks on the cards.

The 32-year-old is likely to be the back-up option to Lukasz Fabianski, with Spanish stopper Roberto having struggled when deputising for the Pole earlier in the season, conceding 16 goals in just seven league starts (Transfermarkt).

Randolph began the season a regular for ‘Boro in the Championship, but has not been involved in the squad in any of their last nine league outings (Transfermarkt).

Plenty of West Ham supporters have been reacting to the news that the Irishman looks set to return to the club, but most of these fans aren’t too pleased about it.

Indeed several think it is a waste of money, given that they already have David Martin to back-up Fabianski.
