West Ham supporters were drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern this weekend after seeing the Hammers thrashed 4-1 at home by Liverpool on Saturday night, a result which eventually saw them fall into the Premier League’s bottom three.
The East London outfit went into their clash with the Merseysiders off the back of letting slip a two-goal lead to draw at Crystal Palace last week, and they never really looked like getting a result against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at the London Stadium. First half goals from Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip sent the visitors on their way, and although Manuel Lanzini got one back for the Hammers ten minutes into the second half, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain restored Liverpool’s two-goal cushion less than a minute later before Salah grabbed his second with 15 minutes to play to seal a comprehensive victory for Klopp’s side.
Thus, there was a very sombre mood among our resident West Ham fans over the weekend, and they have today been reacting to some huge news coming out of the club as manager Slaven Bilic has been sacked after two-and-a-half years in charge.
The 49-year-old took over back in 2015 and led the club to a stunning seventh place finish in his first season, which also coincided with their last campaign at Upton Park.
However, things were somewhat of a struggle after that with an 11th place finish to follow in their debut season at the London Stadium, and the board had clearly seen enough when they fell into the bottom three over the weekend following the Liverpool drubbing.
And several Hammers fans have taken to Twitter to express their views on the sacking, with many sympathetic but ultimately realistic with regards to where Bilic was taking the club…
Wanted bilic out but I’ll never forget the way he made the last season at Upton park amazing. Hope he does well somewhere else. #coyi

Sad to see Bilic go, but some of the results + performances this season were awful. Please no Moyes. Ancelotti, Mancini or Hiddink #WHUFC

Saddened to see Bilic go and that he isn’t going to get the chance to turn this around. Change at the club is needed however. #WHUFC

Real shame to see Bilic go but just wasn’t working. Seemed like a good man and always put the club first. Thank you Bilic #whufc #moyesout
