West Ham United are set to appoint former player Kevin Nolan as part of David Moyes’ coaching staff, that is according to club insider @ExWHUemployee.
It is also suggested that the ex-midfielder will be joined at the east London club by former England coach Paul Nevin.
The 37-year-old played for the Hammers between 2011-15 and made 157 appearances in total, scoring 31 goals and providing 18 assists (Transfermarkt). He was also part of the squad which won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in 2012, playing in the final at Wembley (whufc.com).
He has already gained plenty of coaching experience too. Indeed he spent just under three months as player-manager at Leyton Orient and won seven of his 15 league games in charge, losing just six (Transfermarkt).
He then spent a much longer spell in charge at Notts County and managed 84 games in total at the Magpies, winning 35 and drawing 21 (Transfermarkt) and even leading them to the League Two play-offs in the 17/18 season.
Since being sacked by Notts in 2018 (BBC Sport), Nolan has been out of the game but it looks like he is closing in on a return by becoming a coach at West Ham. Moyes will hope that the club’s former skipper can have an immediate impact on the training ground and help them avoid relegation.
