West Ham: Fans react to reports that interest is being generated for takeover

West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has claimed that there is “some interest being generated” for a potential takeover of the club.

A report from Football Insider recently suggested that a Saudi Arabian backed consortium which has been trying to buy Newcastle United may now turn their attention to the Hammers having failed to agree a deal with Mike Ashley. However, it is thought that the would have to pay more than the £340m wanted by Ashley for the Magpies.

Added to that, @indykaila recently suggested that Red Bull were also interested in taking over at the London Stadium. They already own several clubs including Leipzig and Salzburg.

It seems that there may be some truth to both stories given that ExWHUemployee has said just as much, so it will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

One thing is for sure, most West Ham fans are extremely hopeful that the club are taken over soon. Indeed there has been a growing disconnect between the supporters and current owners David Gold and David Sullivan, with protests planned for their televised game against Liverpool later in February (The Telegraph).

Many fans have taken to Twitter after seeing reports of a potential takeover to express their desperation for it to happen. Here is what some had to say…
