West Ham fans take to Twitter to laud incredible Issa Diop

Where would West Ham be without Manuel Pellegrini’s incredible summer signings? The Hammers have gone from strength to strength after recovering from a rocky start to the Premier League season and the likes of Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Lukas Fabianski have been key to that. The man that the fans are focusing on here, though, is Diop.

The Irons young central defender is one of the best young defenders in the Premier League and he just doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Once again he showed just how good he was against Newcastle and one moment in particular where he made a sublime last-ditch to deny what looked like a certain Newcastle goal to put the ball out for a corner has been played on repeat by the Hammers.

When Pellegrini has everyone fit his centre-back pairing of Diop and Fabian Balbuena is the stuff of dreams. The Hammers will be backing themselves to have a really good crack at breaking into the top six next season if they can build on what they’ve got this season and have better luck with their injuries, and it’s hard to back against them when they’ve got someone at the back with the quality of Issa Diop.
