West Ham: Fans want Xande Silva in first team after under-23’s goal

Plenty of West Ham United supporters want to see striker Xande Silva in the first team squad after his performance in the under-23 side.

The 22-year-old scored and provided an assist as the young Hammers side beat Sunderland 4-2 in a Premier League 2 fixture, a result which took them top of the table (@WestHam).

It was actually the Portuguese striker’s first appearance of the season (whufc.com) having only recently returned from injury. Indeed, he needed emergency surgery in the summer for a bowel obstruction (football.london) which ruled him out of the first half of the campaign.

Now that he is back he will be looking to regain full fitness and he will certainly have hopes of breaking into the first team. Last season he played twice, making a cameo appearance in the Premier League against Burnley whilst also starting in the FA Cup against Birmingham City (Transfermarkt).

After seeing that he had already got his name on the scoresheet in the under-23’s, loads of Hammers fans want David Moyes to bring him into the first team. That is perhaps due to the struggles of regular striker Sebastien Haller, who has netted just twice in his last 19 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Here is what some fans had to say about Silva on Twitter…
