According to Sky Italia, West Ham and Stoke are rumoured to have asked about the availability of Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini ahead of a potential transfer move.
The news has certainly been welcomed by our Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern who are keen to see their team start finding the back of the net before relegation becomes a cert.
Meanwhile, our Stoke fans would also like a new striker though they do not feel as desperate for the Serie A man given they have the likes of Wilfried Bony at the club.
The Italian striker has struggled this season for goals despite being expected to step up after Napoli lost Gonzalo Higuain in the summer to rivals Juventus.
The forward has just the one goal in eleven games in the Italian top flight this campaign but that is still a better return than that of his countryman Simone Zaza with the Hammers.
Slaven Bilic’s men are precariously close to the bottom three and our landlord reckons they should roll the dice with Gabbiadini as they have very little else going for them at the moment.
