According to Italian media outlet Il Mattino, Napoli are targeting West Ham’s on-loan forward Simone Zaza with our resident Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern not too fussed if they cannot keep him.
The Italian signed from Juventus in the summer window and has a clause in his contract that if he plays a certain amount of games for the Hammers they can buy him for a pre-arranged fee, but so far he has yet to score for the club.
That, though, does not appear to have put off Napoli.
The Naples side are struggling so far this season in Serie A.
They are fifth in the league when they were once again expecting to challenge for the title as they did last season.
Instead they are seven points off of Juventus after selling Gonzalo Higuain to the Turin club and seeing their replacement Arkadiusz Milik suffer a lengthy injury set back and so they seem to see Zaza as an ideal recruit.
Our landlord thinks West Ham fans need to give Zaza time, as he has the credentials to become a top striker in the Premier League.
