Aaron Cresswell has been pictured on the West Ham training pitches ahead of their last five Premier League games as the Hammers look to close in on an unlikely European spot.
Cresswell had played every single Premier League minute for the Irons before he was forced off injured in the 3-2 win against Leicester earlier this month.
And West Ham have missed him, suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time since September – they’ve lost their place in the top four to Chelsea.
But the images, which show Cresswell conducting individual fitness works, will raise hopes of a swift return. Moyes said last week the defender was ‘getting closer’.
West Ham travel to Burnley in the Monday night game before facing Everton, Brighton, West Brom and Southampton to close out the season.
What about West Ham’s other injuries?
Elsewhere, there’s no timescale as yet on Declan Rice or Michail Antonio. Rice is out with a knee problem sustained on international duty. Antonio, meanwhile, has a thigh injury, but Moyes is hopeful that he will be back before the end of the season.
Here’s how fans reacted to the Cresswell photos, posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
West Ham fans delighted as Cresswell nears return
“We have really missed you Cresswell hope to see you back for the final three games”
“Missed him dearly”
“Never thought I’d say this but what a player he’s been, missed him massively”
In other news, fans erupted at a report that the club were lining-up this move.
