West Ham United: Mandzukic transfer rumour generates fan reaction

West Ham United were heavily linked to forward Josh King over the transfer window. A move never came to fruition, and recent reports have suggested that Mario Mandzukic is another attacker the club were interested in.
According to Italian sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, and tweeted out by @whufc_news, the Croatian forward turned down a move to West Ham on a free transfer during the transfer window.
The 34 year-old has a lot of experience and quality as he has 197 goals throughout his career (Transfermarkt) and also has won the Champions League.
He is highly rated, with his former manager Massimiliano Allegri piling praise on him in the past. He said: “Mario is a key player. His combination of technical and physical attributes make him an extraordinary player.”
The Croatia international has of course played in both World Cup and Champions League finals, so his experience and physicality may have helped alongside the likes of Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.
This could have been a very astute signing on a free, and in hindsight the club will be gutted he turned down a move as main man Antonio is reportedly injured for a month.
Here is what West Ham fans have said following the news on Mandzukic:
