West Ham United will send a scout to watch Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi this weekend, according to a report from Sport Witness.
The 25-year-old currently plays for Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig, and they are next up against rivals Galatasaray at the Turk Telekom Arena.
He has already made an impressive start to the 2019/20 season, scoring three goals in just five appearances as well as creating one assist.
It would appear that his form has caught the attention of the Hammers, who despite signing Sebastian Haller in the summer could still be keen on adding another striker to their squad.
Even though the Frenchman has made a strong start to life under Manuel Pellegrini, netting three goals in five league games himself, the Londoners are a bit thin on the ground in terms of centre-forwards.
They allowed Lucas Perez, Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic all to leave in the summer, whilst also sending Jordan Hugill on loan to Queens Park Rangers. That means that the only strikers they have are Haller and Swiss international Albian Ajeti, whose only appearances so far for the club have been in the League Cup.
Should Muriqi impress in the game, it could lead to the Hammers making him a transfer target in the January window. However, they could face competition for his signature with the Sport Witness report claiming that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could also be interested in securing his services.
The Kosovo international may also not come cheap. Having only signed for Fenerbahce from Caykur Rizespor last summer, his contract with the club runs until July 2023.
Still, Muriqi could prove to be a dangerous option for the Hammers should they acquire him. Averaging 4.6 shots per game so far this season (as per WhoScored), he is currently testing goalkeepers more often than Haller (2.4), showing the kind of confidence he has in front of goal.
