The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a lot of business over the next few weeks…
Last season was a very poor one for the Hammers, and whilst Slaven Bilic managed to turn things around towards the end of the campaign, a repeat performance will not be acceptable next season.
As a result, West Ham will need to bring in a few players this summer as they look to force their way back to the top half of the Premier League – and according to the Evening Standard, that process begins now.
The Evening Standard are reporting that West Ham are ‘closing in’ on a move for Marko Arnautovic, who has submitted a transfer request at current club Stoke City. It is noted that a new bid is likely to be forthcoming.
Naturally an attacker, Arnautovic was a regular for the Potters last season, making a total of 32 appearances in the Premier League.
Most natural as a left-sided attacking midfielder, he bagged 3 goals from the position last season as Stoke City battled to a 13th place finish in the Premier League.
Whilst the West Ham fans are hoping for a few bigger names to move to the London Stadium this summer, they think that Arnautovic will serve as a reliable hand for Bilic – and that is exactly what he needs after last season.
