Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see their side finish strongly this season before getting a good summer window transfer-wise under their belts.
Indeed, after the momentum of 2015/16 was largely thrown away by the dealings of the 2016 summer window, many Hammers punters think that avoiding a repeat is of crucial importance.
Slaven Bilic, then, needs to get every signing spot on with the latest rumour from Bleacher Report suggesting he is scouting Cenk Tosun of Besiktas.
Of course, there is going to be an air of uncertainty about such a move given the unsuccessful nature of many of the unknown signings for the club this season but Tosun does seem to have quality.
Certainly, the striker has an evident eye for goal with 16 strikes in 22 league matches – a record not to be sniffed at at any level.
And, with Andy Carroll always a fitness concern, signing the 25-year-old as he comes into his prime could just prove to be a very shrewd move on Bilic’s behalf after all.
Time will tell, of course, but this could be a risk worth taking.
