West Ham fans must be nervous as they sit just three points above the relegation zone in 17th place.
Manuel Pellegrini hasn’t been helped by the fact his summer signings haven’t had the impact he’d have liked. That’s exemplified by attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals having not made a goal contribution in the league since signing for £25.2m.
One way West Ham could recover from their transfer shortcomings is by promoting young players from the academy who are prepared to work hard for their spot among the stars. West Ham U23s won 3-1 against Brighton U23s on Wednesday and 21-year-old Nathan Holland was on the scoresheet once again.
He’s now scored nine goals and made six assists in Premier League 2, and when the club’s official Twitter account posted the news that he’d bagged an equaliser on 33 minutes, fans were quick to urge the club to promote him to the first team. The tweet from the club said: “Great hit! Holland goes [on a] mesmerising run infield from the left, before crisply hitting it into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.”
