A lot of West Ham United fans have defended former attacker Sofiane Feghouli after a post on Twitter from COYIrons labelled him as ‘probably the most disappointing transfer in a long time’.
The Algerian winger, who has scored 12 times for his country (Transfermarkt), signed for the Irons on a free transfer in 2016 from Spanish side Valencia whilst Croatian Slaven Bilic was manager of the side, via The Guardian.
Fans who disagreed with the statement have a good reason to, as he managed six goal contributions (three goals and three assists) in 21 games for the side in the Premier League, whilst scoring four goals in 16 starts in all competitions, per Transfermarkt, which is a goal every four games he was named in the starting eleven.
Sadly the attacker was not given much time to prove his worth, as he was shipped to Galatasaray after just one season at the club for £3.83 million where the 30 year-old has gone on to make 101 appearances, scoring 26 goals and assisting 22 times.
Here is what fans had to say about the former signing:

Excellent footballer. Comes to mighty West Ham and basically wasted because his face didnt fit the Noble, Snodgrass, Cresswell circus and banter. Played in between the lines with an excellent eye for goal. His stats for Gala and Valencia prove he was a class player.

I remember his last game at the Olympic stadium where he was our best player so I was really looking forward to seeing him next season as it seemed that he got used to the PL… 🙄😒😢

Can’t agree. A goal every four games when he started (4 goals in 16 starts) and we made a profit of over £3.5m on him.

Actually under rated player.

He should have been given more time

Not a chance. Guy was great for us and popped up in big moments
