West Ham United: Fans fuming with David Gold after his latest comments

West Ham United co-owner David Gold has claimed that he has not been paid at all in terms of a salary in the 10 years he has been at the club (The Mirror).

His comments come as part of a staunch defence of the way that he and David Sullivan are running the club, having received plenty of criticism from supporters in recent times. Indeed, fans are planning on staging a protest during their televised Premier League fixture against Liverpool later in the month (The Telegraph) with most calling for Gold, Sullivan and Karren Brady to leave.

Whilst defending how the club is being run, Gold claimed: “I’ve not received a penny in salary or expenses from West Ham in 10 years. I know of owners or chief executives that are earning £3million a year… and more,” (via The Mirror).

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gold’s comments have not gone down well at all with a lot of West Ham fans. Indeed, many have pointed out the fact that the owners still receive plenty in interest from their loans to the club (@JacobSteinberg) and are still calling for the trio to leave.
