West Ham United have agreed a deal in principle to sign Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes, that is according to a report from Sky Sports.
It would see the Portuguese join the Hammers on an 18-month loan, but there will be no option or obligation to buy the 21-year-old.
The east London club have been chasing Fernandes for a while now, but there were concerns about whether a deal would get done.
Indeed, Sky Sports reported that the Irons and Benfica were struggling to agree on some conditions of the deal recently, whilst the same outlet also suggested that Chelsea were preparing to submit a rival bid.
But it looks as though David Moyes’ side have finally come to an agreement with the Liga NOS outfit and therefore look likely to land the youngster.
However it seems that some West Ham fans aren’t too happy even though they have finally managed to get a deal in place as they feel that it is a mistake no to include an option to buy.
