West Ham United: Fans react to Marouane Fellaini transfer link

West Ham United are interested in signing former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, that is according to a report from Sky Sports.

The Belgian currently plays in China for Shandong Luneng Taishan, but his future is now in question following the Chinese Super League’s new salary cap.

Whilst the cap doesn’t affect Fellaini’s current contract which still has two years left to run, it does mean that if he signed a new deal at any point he would have to take a 75% pay cut as the new rules state the maximum a player can earn is £42,000-per-week (Daily Mail).

It shouldn’t be a major surprise that the Hammers have been linked with Fellaini, given that their new manager David Moyes signed the 32-year-old for both Everton and Manchester United.

He would certainly add strength to the West Ham midfield and also a goal threat. Indeed he recently netted seven times for Shandong in 2019 albeit in a weaker league (Transfermarkt) and also has 37 Premier League goals to his name (Transfermarkt).

It seems that he would actually be quite a popular signing amongst the Hammers fanbase, with many suggesting that he would be a good addition to their squad and an improvement on their current back-up option Carlos Sanchez.
