West Ham United have confirmed that defender Ryan Fredericks has successfully undergone surgery on his shoulder injury (@WestHam).
However, they have also suggested that the 27-year-old will now be out for six weeks as he recovers, which means he won’t be back until mid-April.
That is certainly a blow for David Moyes, with the former Fulham man having been the club’s first choice right-back this season, starting 19 times in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

They must now replace him in the first team and it seems that most fans believe that it is now time for youngster Jeremy Ngakia to show what he can do. The 19-year-old started against Liverpool in their most recent game and produced an impressive performance, winning seven ground duels and making five tackles (SofaScore).
Their other option is the experienced Pablo Zabaleta, but there is no doubt that a lot of the club’s supporters want to see Ngakia given a run in the starting line-up.
Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…

What with Fredericks’ injury absence length now confirmed, Ngakia needs to be West Ham’s first choice RB between now and the end of the season, as opposed to Zabaleta.
