West Ham United supporters are looking worried in the Football Transfer Tavern today.

Yesterday’s thrilling 3-3 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion has left the club in a precarious position in the Premier League and transfer news brought to them by The Telegraph has not improved matters.

The paper reveals that Sam Allardyce’s side risk losing highly rated midfielder Ravel Morrison for less than £10 million due to a clause in his current contract during the January transfer window.

The form of the England Under-21 international has been one of the highlights of the Hammers’ season so far but the Telegraph indicates that if they receive a bid in excess of £10 million they will either have to accept or substantially increase Morrison’s current wages.

Morrison’s existing contract has 18-months left to run and the board are trying hard to convince the former Manchester United starlet to secure his future at Upton Park as they try to remove the clause.

However with their top flight future uncertain, they are unlikely to want to increase Ravel’s wages to £60,000-a-week and could instead by forced to sell when the transfer window re-opens next week.

The 20-year-old is unlikely to be without potential suitors after seemingly putting his career back on track at the Boleyn Ground. The Hammers could now be forced to sell one of their prized assets at a time where they should be looking to strengthen.
