According to The Mirror, West Ham are looking into signing Sunderland defender Lamine Kone with our resident Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern certainly liking the sound of that.
The centre-half joined the Black Cats in the January transfer window last season and quickly asserted himself as one of their key players as he helped them stay up.
This season, though, the north east club look in real dire straits and Kone doesn’t seem able to help them, nor does he seem interested.
That factor, though, appears not to be perturbing Slaven Bilic who sees him as the idea partner for Winston Reid.
The Hammers have struggled at the back this season with neither James Collins or Angelo Ogbonna nailing their place down, and so Kone could profit from that and come straight in.
West Ham host Stoke City this weekend as they look to bounce back from their loss at Everton last time out whilst Sunderland travel to Bournemouth.
Our landlord thinks that Kone is a player of real quality, but admits that you can tell the defender simply doesn’t want to play for Sunderland!
