The Daily Mail have claimed that West Ham United’s Carlton Cole is set to be rewarded for his performances this term by landing a new contract at Upton Park.
Cole arrived on a short-term deal as a free agent in the autumn and now it seems that after scoring three goals in nine appearances he will be staying a little while longer.
The Hammers are in dire need of goals and simply cannot seem to get away from the relegation dog fight they have now found themselves in.
Despite that, Sam Allardyce is willing to offer Cole a further chance to impress at the club.
He spoke to the club’s official site and claimed: “We’ve got that in mind and are talking about that as quickly as we possibly can because obviously it needs to be addressed.
“Carlton will be dealt with very shortly.”
In other news, the club have released injury laden Mladen Petric with the manager noting: “Mladen Petric has been released on the fact that unfortunately, for whatever reason, he never recovered from his [calf] injury that he picked up, so that was another one who everybody seems to forget about who sadly wasn’t able to make an impact for us.”
