It was understandable that Javier Hernandez was keen to make his move from West Ham United to Sevilla this summer, as was reported by The Daily Mail.
The Mexico international started 14 Premier League matches last season, coming on for 11, as per WhoScored.
He will have harboured hope that he could be the club’s main striker this season when Marko Arnautovic was sold, but that was quickly put to bed with the record-breaking signing of Sebastien Haller.
Hernandez made his first start for Sevilla in the Europa League against Qarabag on Thursday, scoring the opener of their 3-0 victory with a superb free-kick:

While plenty of Sevilla supporters were wildly celebrating their side going ahead, many West Ham fans were left marvelling at what their former player had produced.
They couldn’t remember him doing anything like that at the London Stadium, with some blaming the way he was utilised.
