Whilst the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were still celebrating their side’s win over Dortmund last night, the Arsenal faithful were drowning their sorrows once again. Despite winning the North London derby over the weekend, Arsenal seriously struggled on Thursday in the Europa League – eventually falling to a 1-0 defeat against FC Köln.
It was a game that the Gunners were expected to win and win comfortably. Player-wise, their squad is filled with far more quality and depth than the German outfit, with top players like Jack Wilshere on display on the night.
However, it wasn’t to be for Arsene Wenger, and though their form on the whole in Europe hasn’t been bad, it was a shocking night for them on Thursday.
Unsurprisingly, though, if the Arsenal faithful are looking for sympathy, they should avoid the Tottenham section of the Transfer Tavern. The Gunners had the upper hand following the North London derby, but the balance of power has certainly shifted now, and the only noises coming from the Spurs faithful are that of laughter.
It’s a similar tale over on Twitter, with Tottenham fans taking to the site to express their sympathy, or rather lack of thereof, for their fellow Londoners. Take a look below…
It’s glorious to witness the bitterness of Arsenal fans toward Spurs now that we’ve essentially overtaken them. You keep focusing on us while we focus on progressing far beyond you #COYS

Seems to be a lot of banter tonight about Arsenal's defeat in the Europa League.
I genuinely forgot they were playing. I switch off after Wednesday nights. #THFC #COYS

What a difference a few days make. Come from behind away to Dortmund and win to top the group of death in the Champions League with the ‘easiest’ game yet to play. Whilst Arsenal lost to the worst team in Germany in the Europa league #COYS

Ironically, if you wanted an indication of where Spurs and Arsenal are at right now, the North London Derby wasn’t the game to watch this week. #COYS

Funny old game this football we get beaten and played terribly Saturday at Arsenal then go to Dortmund and win Tuesday. Arsenal after beating us go to cologne Thursday and get beat. #THFC #COYS
