West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the best part of the last week urging their side not to screw up their summer transfer plans, as they shudder at the memories from a year ago.
Slaven Bilic’s side went all-out prior to this season with a wealth of new additions but the majority of their recruits have failed to make an impression, with the club now confirming that three of their summer arrivals have left.
Jonathan Calleri and Gokhan Tore return to their parent clubs are unsuccessful loan stints in East London, whilst Alvaro Arbeloa leaves on a free transfer following the expiration of the one-year deal he signed last year when he left Real Madrid.
Added to the fact that Simone Zaza’s loan spell was cut-short in January, it’s clear that West Ham’s summer last term was a bitter disappointment and fans have been critical of the actions, dubbing them a waste of money – although they’re pleased to see the trio leave.

What a waste of money. At least Calleri tried.
