Southampton supporters in the Transfer Tavern were left with mixed emotions over the weekend after seeing the Saints only muster a 1-1 draw away at Brighton in the Premier League, a result which did however move the South Coast outfit up to ninth place in the division.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s men went into their clash at the AMEX Stadium having won just three of their opening nine league games, yet gave themselves a good chance of recording a fourth when Steven Davis slotted home a rebound after James Ward-Prowse’s fine free-kick struck the woodwork. However, the visitors were unable to add the crucial second goal and were ultimately punished by Chris Hughton’s side when Glenn Murray nodded home Pascal Gross’ cross just seven minutes into the second half.
And although neither team could find a winner, both sets of supporters in the Tavern were left slightly frustrated given their respective teams’ inability to win the game, but several of our resident Saints fans were particularly annoyed given their side led the contest and were reasonably comfortable for much of the first half.
Yet in what was an average display from Pellegrino’s men at the AMEX Stadium, one man in particular came in for much criticism on Twitter following the match, namely midfielder Dusan Tadic.
The Serbia international has started all but one of their ten Premier League games this term but has only managed one goal so far, which came in their 3-2 success over West Ham back in August.
And with no assists either, the 28-year-old isn’t quite having the impact expected or indeed required to warrant a starting place, and as such several Southampton fans took to social media to lay into the midfielder for yet another anonymous display…
Need to make changes at #saintsfc need to switch keepers, drop Tadic and give gabbiadini and Austin a go together up front

Football is an entertainment business and we’re getting short changed. Tadic should start offering compensation for his no shows. #saintsfc

Tadic needs to have a long hard look at himself if he wants to continue to play in PL. #SaintsFC
