At the very moment, football truly seems like a secondary thing in life and even though it’s a huge part of every fan’s life, currently we have bigger problems on our hands than the local team getting smacked once again.
But despite them being on forced holidays, football players, both active and retired alike, still do have a big role to play in this rather messy situation.
People will often heed their call and listen to their messages even though they might not be experts and that’s why it’s extremely important for them to choose their words wisely.

Carl Ikeme, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, decided to write a message of his own on Twitter and share it with people who may not be taking things too seriously.
He urged them to think of others and respect the social distancing instructions we were all given.
It may not be easy, but it could very well save lives…
On another note, please can everyone respect the social distancing! There are plenty of people up & down the country with low immune systems from cancer treatments of all ages. Don’t let the news telling you the people died had underlying issues give u comfort, it’s still a life!
