Wolverhampton Wanderer fans slated Ryan Bennett following the centre-back’s performance in the 1-0 defeat to Portuguese side Braga.
Wolves’ first appearance at the main stage of a European competition since 1980 ended in defeat after a 71st-minute goal from Ricardo Horta (via BBC).
Bennett was slated by the Wolves fans for his display as the Englishman gave the ball away for Braga’s goal thanks to a sloppy pass.
The defeat opened up bigger issues for Nuno Espirito Santo and his team after they conceded their ninth goal in their last three games, including three at Everton and five at home to Chelsea.
The rate of goals conceded is in stark contrast to last season, with the side shipping just 46 goals in the Premier League, a feat only bettered by Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
It seems fans know who the weak link in their defence is as they took to Twitter to lash out at Bennett for his mistake in their opening group game.
