Wolverhampton Wanderers’ nightmare campaign looks set to claim another casualty.
Despite a brief uptick in results, Wolves remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, with relegation increasingly feeling inevitable rather than avoidable.
As survival hopes fade, attention has turned to player departures — and with Jørgen Strand Larsen edging closer to a move to Crystal Palace, it appears another key figure is preparing to jump ship.
This time, it’s a defender once hailed as “exceptional” by teammate Marshall Munetsi, who now looks bound for Turkey.
Agbadou Agrees to Join Besiktas
Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou has agreed personal terms with Beşiktaş, with his agent back in Istanbul to finalise the move.
The Turkish giants had explored a deal for the Ivory Coast international earlier in the winter window, with talks initially stalling despite Agbadou’s representative being spotted in the city.
However, according to journalist Ertan Süzgün, negotiations have now been revived — and significantly progressed.
Süzgün reports that Agbadou’s agent has returned to Istanbul and that Beşiktaş have reached an agreement with the 26-year-old on a long-term contract running until 2030. The final hurdle now lies between the two clubs, with Wolves and Beşiktaş currently ironing out the remaining details of the transfer.
With Wolves facing a likely drop into the Championship, there is an expectation that the club could green-light the move if a suitable fee is agreed.
Losing Agbadou would be another blow for Wolves, but it may also be a pragmatic decision. As an Ivory Coast international with his prime years ahead of him, the defender is arguably too good for second-tier football.
If Beşiktaş meet Wolves’ valuation, cashing in now could help the club rebuild ahead of a difficult reset.
