Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are firmly of the belief they will be watching their side in the Premier League next season.
You can see why, too, even if they did lose to Fulham at the weekend, because when it really matters the Magpies do seem to turn up and produce a performance.
Indeed, they have done as such against the likes of Huddersfield and Brighton recently and so they should take heart from those performances going into the remainder of the season.
Certainly, then, they’ll be looking to strengthen in the summer and it appears – according to Chronicle Live – that they are also willing to give Siem De Jong a chance to impress in pre-season.
The 28-year-old has been on loan in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven but has done fairly well out there with six goals and two assists to his name this season.
He could return to the north-east with renewed confidence, then, and with the Magpies surely eager to make sure they stay in the top-flight past next season, they’ll be hoping the attacking midfielder does produce the goods.
