5 players Man Utd should seriously consider signing this month

With the January transfer window rapidly approaching it’s climax, Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned that their lack of business could prove costly in the second-half of the campaign.

The Red Devils currently trail Tottenham Hotspur in the race for a top-four finish and speculation regarding the future of Louis Van Gaal continues to rise, which goes some way to explain their lack of activity this month.

However, our punters will accept no excuse and they’re urging the Manchester side to complete some significant business in the final days of the transfer window and they’ve even drafted up a short-list of players they believe they could land before Monday’s deadline.

Our landlord has taken a look at their shopping list, scrawled onto one of our napkins, and agrees these players could be available and would go a long way to solving the vast problems that Manchester United are struggling with this term.

Hit Van Gaal below to see FIVE players he should consider moving for this month!

Saido Berahino

berahinoooo99

This name originally raised a few eyebrows but it makes sense when you think about. Manchester United need goals and always look out for top-talent, particularly those that are homegrown, to continue the proud tradition they have at Old Trafford.

22-year-old Berahino has Premier League experience and is tipped for a bright future, so long as he finds the right path to achieve his goals, and he could make a deadly strike-force for the future alongside Anthony Martial.

Berahino is available this month for the right-price and he would jump at the chance to join United, who can offer him European football and wages he could only dream of with the Baggies.

Gregory Van Der Wiel

Gregory van der Wiel (Paris Saint-Germain)

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back looks increasingly likely to leave the French capital at the end of the season and the Ligue 1 giants are unlikely to stand in his way should an offer come in this month. With United needing defensive recruits, this deal could be ideal.

It’s fair to say that the flanks of the defence at Old Trafford are extremely week, especially with the recent injury concerns, and Dutch international Van Der Wiel could plug those problems. He’s worked with Louis Van Gaal on the international stage and his experience could be decisive.

Van Der Wiel is currently injured following surgery for appendicitis but upon his return, he’d be a major boost for the Red Devils.

Ever Banega

Ever Banega

Manchester United are reportedly keen on Ever Banega and the Argentine midfielder would provide a welcome boost to their leaky back-line. Sat in front of the back-four, the experienced Sevilla man would fill a massive void within the squad.

With negotiations said to be underway by some outlets, this deal looks increasingly likely to be completed as struggling Sevilla look to cash-in. At 27-years-old, Banega has the experience United crave whilst he also strengthens the side in the long-term as he has many years ahead of him.

Ilkay Gundogan

Gundogan

A long-term target for Manchester United, interest in Ilkay Gundogan should definitely be revived- especially if the Red Devils fail in their bid to land Ever Banega from Sevilla. Playing a similar role to the Argentine, the German international would place a cushion in front of a frail back-four.

Gundogan has long been touted with a move to the Premier League and it makes sense for him, considering his option are becoming increasingly limited at Borussia Dortmund. Now’s the right time for a move and it could suit all parties.

Alex Teixeira

Alex Teixeira

With Chelsea out of the race and Liverpool stalling over a deal, some fans in the bar believe that Manchester United should try to hijack a deal by matching Shakhtar Donetsk’s £38m asking price and bringing Alex Teixeira to the Premier League.

United need a creative player and a goalscorer, with Teixeira fitting the bill for both with a sensational tally of 22 goals in 15 Ukranian league games this season. Coming with the added bonus of upsetting Liverpool fans, our punters believe this signing would be excellent.
