Nottingham Forest endured a hugely difficult campaign last season, narrowly avoiding relegation after a turbulent year that saw four different managers take charge.
However, the arrival of Oliver Glasner offers the club a chance for a fresh start. The former Crystal Palace boss enjoyed huge success at Selhurst Park and Forest will be hoping he can bring stability and a clear identity to the City Ground.
Now, Glasner could be ready to make his first addition as Forest manager.
Forest Make Contact for Read
According to reports, Nottingham Forest have submitted an opening bid worth €17.5 million (£14.9m) for Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the offer was rejected by the Eredivisie side, but Forest are expected to return with an improved proposal in the near future.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Feyenoord’s most highly rated young players and has also attracted admiration from Liverpool, who are assessing options at right-back.
Read, who has been described as “fantastic” by Feyenoord legend Robin van Persie, is viewed as a player with significant potential thanks to his athleticism, defensive ability and attacking output.
According to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam, Feyenoord could be willing to negotiate if an offer reaches around €25m (£21.3m).
Forest’s first approach may have been rejected, but the Premier League club appears determined to get a deal done as Glasner begins reshaping his squad.
