Chelsea’s form has taken a sharp downturn in recent weeks, with the Blues now winless in the Premier League since the opening weekend of March.
A convincing 4-1 victory over Aston Villa had hinted at progress, but four straight defeats since have piled pressure on Liam Rosenior and exposed clear weaknesses in the squad.
With confidence dipping and results faltering, the need for a strong summer window has become increasingly obvious — and it appears work is already underway behind the scenes.
Chelsea Make Contact for Adeyemi
Chelsea have reportedly made initial contact with Borussia Dortmund over a potential summer move for Karim Adeyemi, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The German forward — described as “incredible” by Dortmund boss Niko Kovač — has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season and remains one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking threats.
According to German outlet Fussballdaten, Chelsea have already opened discussions with Adeyemi’s representatives, signalling serious interest in bringing him to Stamford Bridge. However, they are unlikely to have a clear path, with both Manchester United and Newcastle United also in the race.
United are said to view Adeyemi as a priority target due to his pace and versatility, while Newcastle are tracking him as part of their long-term recruitment strategy.
From Chelsea’s perspective, adding more firepower is becoming a priority. Only a handful of players have hit double figures this season, underlining the lack of consistent goal threat across the frontline. Adeyemi’s ability to play across multiple attacking roles makes him an attractive option.
There is also uncertainty surrounding his future in Germany, with reports suggesting contract talks have stalled amid tactical differences with Kovač — potentially opening the door for a move.
Chelsea aren’t just monitoring anymore — they’re positioning themselves. Adeyemi feels like the kind of signing that could inject urgency and unpredictability into a stale attack, but with rivals circling, this won’t be straightforward.
If the Blues want him, they’ll need to move quickly — because this is exactly the type of deal that can disappear just as fast as it appears.
