Arsenal: Sead Kolasinac still attracting a lot of interest from the Bundesliga - Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac looks to be more of a squad player these days at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta’s first team sheet of the new Premier League season seeing the club play a 3-4-3, with Kieran Tierney as a left centre-back and Ainsley Maitland Niles as a left wing-back.

It looks like quite a challenge now for the defender to get back in the starting eleven, with Arteta not needing a left-back as much as he did before, whilst Kolasinac has also struggled when trying to fill in at centre-back. His situation seems to have caught the attention of other sides in Europe, and it looks like he could possibly depart the club during this transfer window.

According to the Evening Standard journalist Jack Rosser, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are interested in a deal for Kolasinac as the Gunners look to trim their squad before the window shuts.

Who was George Graham's first signing for the club?

The article also expresses that fellow German club Schalke were also keen but his wages proved to be a big stumbling block. The offer of consistent first-team football is definitely tempting for the 27 year-old, but it is unknown right now what type of offer Leverkusen will make.

The Bosnian has made 104 appearances for Arsenal, scoring five goals and supplying 15 assists, per Transfermarkt. However, with the emergence of Tierney since he signed from Celtic last summer, Kolasinac has often had to settle for a place on the bench or been forced to play at centre-back, which has not always worked out as he has made errors which have cost the team valuable points.

He definitely offers the North London side good squad depth as last season as he averaged 1.3 tackles and 1.3 clearances per game, via WhoScored, however he looks to be quite far down the pecking order with Tierney, Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka looking to occupy the left-sided positions he could fill and so a move would probably benefit all parties, especially if it is a permanent transfer.

This would mean that the player could start playing football more, which is what he wants to do, whilst the Gunners could get some good money for him, especially as he is valued at £14.4 million on Transfermarkt.

It would be good as well if his future gets sorted sooner rather than later as these funds could be used by Arsenal to fund some of their transfer targets like Houssem Aouar.
