Arsenal have enjoyed another remarkably busy summer as Mikel Arteta continues to build a squad capable of defending the Premier League title.
The Gunners have added Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and Illan Meslier, while several established players have also moved on.
Leandro Trossard joined Besiktas, Christian Norgaard departed for Everton and Jakub Kiwior completed a permanent switch to Porto following his loan spell.
Now, another member of Arteta’s squad could be heading for the exit door, with a major offer arriving from Turkey.
Galatasaray Bid for Martinelli
Galatasaray have submitted a £38.4 million offer for Gabriel Martinelli, according to sources cited by ESPN, putting the spotlight on the Arsenal winger’s future.
The 25-year-old has been available for a potential transfer for several months as Arsenal look to refresh the left side of their attack.
Martinelli’s position has already been affected by the arrival of Tzolis, who joined from Club Brugge for around €40m after Trossard’s departure to Besiktas.
Arsenal have also considered several other high-profile options, including Vinicius Junior and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, while Chelsea’s Pedro Neto has been another name on their radar.
That could now leave Martinelli facing increased uncertainty over his place in Arteta’s plans.
The Brazilian has one year remaining on his current Arsenal contract, although the club hold an option to extend it for another 12 months. He is reportedly earning around £180,000 per week.
It remains unclear whether Martinelli would be interested in moving to Galatasaray, with negotiations over personal terms yet to take place.
Martinelli arrived at Arsenal from Ituano in 2019 for around £6 million and has since established himself as an important first-team player. He has made 191 appearances, scoring 41 goals, and also represented Brazil at this summer’s World Cup.
The Turkish giants’ sizeable proposal could now force Arsenal into a decision over whether to keep the winger or cash in while they still have considerable leverage.
