Many Aston Villa fans have responded to comments made by Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder over the last time the Blades visited Villa Park.
Premier League action will return this coming Wednesday evening after a break in the 2019/2020 season since March due to the pandemic.
Wilder’s Blades have had a superb season and sit in the top ten, whilst Villa, who also gained promotion last term, have struggled and sit 19th in the league standings.
Wednesday’s game will give Dean Smith’s side the chance to gain an advantage over their relegation rivals, playing in what is a game in hand over the likes of West Ham United, Watford, Bournemouth and Brighton.
Looking back on last season’s Villa Park meeting in the Championship between United and Villa, Wilder commented on his side’s loss of a 3-0 lead which saw the Midlands side bounce back and draw the game.
Billy Sharp’s hat-trick had put the Blades three goals to the good, before Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham and Andre Green scored in the final 10 minutes of the game to share the spoils.
Reacting to Wilder’s comments via @villareport, fans touched on the previous meeting between the two sides, with many having fond memories of the game whilst others remain in disbelief that they came back that day.
Chris Wilder: “We were cruising and they were never in the game. Villa Park must have had 15,000 people in it. They had gone home. Then one mistake and then another and another. Suddenly it’s 3-3. That one got sorted out in the dressing room.” [daily mail] #avfc pic.twitter.com/31l1fGa4Vv

Total respect for Chris Wilder, what a job he’s done at Sheffield Utd. So difficult to play against, but it’s a game we need to get a win. Utd tend to play for the crowd so will be interesting to see how they get on after this break. Bring in Wednesday. #utv

One was definatley not a goal and I’m sure another one was offside. I really really hope we stuff them. He is such a sore looser. If we loose to a better team I accept it, we were so much better than them in that draw. #utv #vtid

Most of the crowd had gone home and there was still 15000 in the stadium, it would be a healthy number for a lot of clubs in the championship, goes to show the size of our club.
