Yesterday saw Aston Villa fans celebrating as they completed a league double over Middlesbrough. The Riversiders were left stunned as they fell to a successive 3-0 defeat against Aston Villa, having lost by the same margin at home back in December and this time, it was Anwar El Ghazi who caused Tony Pulis’ side all sorts of problems.

The Dutch international bagged his 5th Championship gal of the season when he rolled home past Darren Randolph just before the half an hour mark, and from then on Boro never looked like laying a glove on the Villains. If it had been a boxing match the referee would have stopped it at half-time, and the 3-0 scoreline truly flatters the away side, as El Ghazi and co ran riot.
So far this season, Steve Bruce’s different loanees have all had a varying degree of success. Whilst Yannick Bolasie was sent back by Dean Smith and Tammy Abraham has been sublime, somewhere in the middle of the two has been Anwar El Ghazi. The Dutch winger, on-loan from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, has done his bit when he’s needed too, and in the wake of their win over Middlesbrough, the Villains have been calling for the ex-Ajax U19 star to sign up permanently.

The Villains are over the moon with El Ghazi’s recent levels and will hope he can sign permanently and make displays like yesterday’s his benchmark going forward.
