Many Aston Villa fans have given their opinion on previous interest in Champions League winner Daniel Sturridge.
The Birmingham-born striker was released by Liverpool at the end of last season after winning a Champions League medal, beating Tottenham Hotspur in last year’s final.
Leaving Anfield, the former Chelsea man would embark on a spell in Turkish football with Trabzonspor, and whilst there he was linked with a move to Villa Park in the January transfer window.
The move never happened, but Sturridge was released from his contract in the Turkish Super Lig due to a Football Association ban for breaching betting rules.
Four goals in his seven league starts for Trabzonspor looked as though the striker had reignited his career, but now being a free agent, he will be eyeing another chance to find first team football.
Interest from Major League Soccer has emerged with both DC United and Inter Miami said to be keen.
Transfer Tavern’s Ben Crump asked Villa fans on Facebook group Aston Villa Fan Club: “Would you welcome Daniel Sturridge?”, should they reignite their January interest, and here are some of the responses…
Carl Nicholls: I’d prefer Daniel Radcliffe
Lee Arrowsmith: If I worked at the local hospital yes
Ben Rowe: No chance
Alice Singleton: Absolutelt not
Samuel Thompson: As a fan?
Julie Hopkins: I’d like Daniel Craig more
Jon Crofts: Craig David could do a job
James Lungley: Only on a pay per game deal
