Aston Villa defender James Chester has been suffering with a niggling knee problem since January, stating it could be with him for the rest of his career.
Chester first picked up the knock in November 2018 on international duty with Wales, saying that he managed with it for a couple of months until January when Villa were able to bring in more defensive options, allowing the defender to take some much-needed time out.
Despite him missing the remainder of the Championship season, having previously notched 28 appearances and scored five times (as per TransferMarkt), Dean Smith’s side were still able to secure promotion with a play-off final win over Derby in May.
Chester is now on the comeback trail after spending months on the sidelines, with the club announcing his return to the squad with a teasing Twitter post.
As a result, many Villa fans on Twitter reacted with delight to the news, especially since the defender had such a huge impact on the side before his forced absence. Here is some of the joyous reaction:
Love to see it 💜💙
