Whoever took over from Steve Bruce at Villa Park was going to be left with the tough task of sorting out the shambles that has been the Micah Richards situation. Under Bruce, the defender may as well have been a missing person. His last appearance came on the 15th October back in 2016 and his only involvement last season came when he was an unused sub in the Carabao Cup against Boro.
Dean Smith will monitor the fitness of Micah Richards in the coming months but admits he’s still some way off the pace at this stage. [birmingham live] #avfc

According to Birmingham Live, Dean Smith is going to monitor the fitness of the 30-year-old but admits that he’s a long way off the pace at the moment, a statement that has left the Villains absolutely fuming. As a professional footballer the fans believe that, at the very least, Richards should have kept himself sharp and fit in his two years and three days since he last played in a professional football match.
Richards, somehow, has won 13 England caps in his time as a player, although the early hype that surrounded him when he broke through at Manchester City has all but gone. The Villa Park faithful would happily have him done for robbery as their club has been paying his wages for the last two years for him to do nothing, not even staying fit, and because of his awful history with the club, the fans are firmly against giving him a chance under Dean Smith.

I’d like to know why @MicahRichards hasn’t kept himself fit over the last year! What’s he been doing other then boxing ?

Don’t care how short we are at the back I don’t ever want to see him in a villa shirt again

The fans are adamant that they never want to see Richards play for their club again and if he keeps going the way he is, that shouldn’t be a problem for the defender.
