According to L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), Aston Villa are set to make a move for Angers’ Baptiste Santamaria as Dean Smith looks to strengthen his relegation-threatened team.
However, despite a need to reinforce with the club currently sitting in the relegation zone, some supporters are not happy with the links to the French midfielder.
Whatever the case, Santamaria looks to be firmly on the Villans’ radar, with L’Equipe also reporting that they made a €10m (£8.5m) offer for his services during the summer.
Villa are hardly lacking options in the middle of the park, with Smith having the likes of John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz to call upon, which is perhaps why some fans are not too keen on Santamaria.
With summer arrival Wesley only managing to bag four Premier League goals so far this season, you could argue that signing a striker should be priority for the Midlands club instead.
