Aston Villa: Fans not keen on short-term deal for Glenn Murray

Aston Villa’s search for a new striker looks to have taken them to Brighton’s Glenn Murray, and that has not impressed fans.

According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, the Midlands club are looking at a six-month loan deal for the Englishman as they attempt to bolster their options up front.

Murray, 36, has fallen behind Neal Maupay in the pecking order at the Amex this season, starting just three Premier League games, so he could very well be available for transfer.

Some Villa fans, however, have made it clear that they do not want the former Bournemouth man at Villa Park. And what could possibly add insult to injury is the fact that seven-goal Maupay, who has ousted Murray out of Brighton’s starting XI, was once a Villa target himself. The 23-year-old has made 14 more league starts than his rival.

Comparing him to former flop Grant Holt, who scored just one goal during his time with the club, it is fair to say that these fans are firmly against Murray joining:
