It is no secret that whenever Aston Villa have the sublime jack Grealish available they’re a better outfit. However, the stats show just how sublime the Villains have been since the midfielder returned to fitness and was given the captain’s armband, and the fans are both impressed and worried for their reliance on the midfielder in equal measure.

The stats truly do speak for themselves. With four games gone since Grealish was given the captain’s armband by Dean Smith upon his comeback from injury, the 23-year-old has seen his side score 11 times whilst conceding just once, winning all four of those games and giving the Villa Park faithful real hope that this season can be the one where they make their Premier League return.
At the start of his career, Grealish showed a real immaturity and looked like he may not make the grade. However, after spending time under the management of Steve Bruce and Dean Smith it looks like the youngster is ready to kick on and become the Villa hero that the fans knew he could be. His winner against Birmingham only helped to confirm that, and as long as their purple patch continues under his captaincy he’ll be a hero.
