Aston Villa supporters have been in fine voice in recent times after seeing their team pick up their tenth Championship victory of the season last time out.
Dean Smith’s men went into their encounter with bottom side Ipswich Town at the weekend off the back of drawing 2-2 at home with resurgent Hull City a week earlier, thus leaving them without a league victory in 2019 ahead of the visit of Paul Lambert’s struggling Tractor Boys. Yet the Villans finally got their opening win of the year at the fourth attempt as a brace from Tammy Abraham inspired the hosts to a 2-1 success at Villa Park, in turn moving them up to tenth place in the Championship table.
As such, there have been plenty of delighted Villa fans up and down the country in recent times, although several have taken to Twitter recently to express their surprise at the club’s decision to let defender James Bree leave the Villans on Deadline Day (as per the club’s official website).
The 21-year-old made the move to Villa Park back in 2017 after beginning his professional career at Barnsley, although he has struggled for regular first team football at Villa this time round with just eight Championship appearances to his name.
Yet five of those have come in Villa’s last seven league matches to suggest that he was beginning to feature in Smith’s regular first team plans, only for the ex-Brentford chief to officially sanction the right back’s exit to Ipswich on loan for the rest of the season.
And while Villa have been busy on Deadline Day in getting a deal done for Tyrone Mings, several Villans fans took to Twitter to react to Bree’s exit, with plenty baffled and surprised by the club’s decision to let the 21-year-old leave…
