Many Aston Villa fans have responded to confirmation from manager Dean Smith that Ahmed Elmohamady will miss Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season against West Ham United.
The Claret and Blue side produced a superb 1-0 win over Arsenal earlier this week to keep their chances of remaining in England’s top flight alive.
Spending the majority of the restart in the bottom three, a single goal from Trezeguet saw Smith’s side pick up all three points against the Gunners and push themselves above Watford..
With relegation still a possibility for Villa, Sunday’s game against the Hammers could prove to be vital with Watford looking to pick up a final day win.
Heading into the game at the London stadium, Villa will be without Elmohamady after Smith confirmed his absence which came after he suffered a hamstring problem against Arsenal.
Frederic Guilbert is expected to deputise once more after coming on and playing well at Villa Park earlier in the week.
Reacting via Aston Villa News on Twitter, fans gave their opinion on the defender’s absence with one suggesting that they will be missing their best crosser of a ball. Indeed, the Egyptian does have a good assists record with 67 in his career (Transfermarkt).
I love elmo but guilbert deserves the spot and I’ve been baffled as to why he hasn’t been getting in over Elmo, I suppose Elmo does have a better cross
