Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a brighter 2017 and want Enes Mahmutovic to be a sign of things to come.
The young Luxembourg international has been offered a trial with Villa, according to his current club, Fola Esch, on their official website.
He can play as either a full back or a centre back and has largely featured on the right side of his current club’s defence this season.
He also made an appearance for the Luxembourg national team towards the end of last year and has Europa League experience so he is clearly working up quite the CV for himself despite being a teenager still.
His next step could be with Villa, then, if this trial goes well and from that point on he could really become a talented player under the guidance of Steve Bruce.
Bruce is one of the most highly regarded managers not just in the Championship but in this country and our landlord reckons if Mahmutovic can impress, he could be set for a bright career.
