Sunderland obviously don’t know which division they will be competing in next season but that hasn’t prevented fans from discussing future plans regarding playing personnel.
In particular, there has been a focus on Bailey Wright’s future and whether the club should look to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis, having impressed so far. The Bristol City loanee arrived with international and Championship experience and he has showcased that at the Stadium of Light so far, helping the Black Cats concede just twice in the five games he has played – with four clean sheets to boast of too.
Phil Parkinson presumably brought him in to show that exact quality but it is likely that he was only let go by the Robins due to one negative drawback – his injury issues. He has been sidelined for much of the past 18 months, featuring just 15 times in the league for Bristol City in that period, and it is little surprise that he has already picked up an issue in the north-east.
It is now being suggested (per the Sunderland Echo) that the defender will be out for the season, and that is one-factor creating doubt in fans’ minds that he should be signed on a free at the end of the season. Wright will be extremely disappointed, as will Parkinson and the supporters, with a few discussing whether the club should sign the centre-back.

No doubting his quality but his injury record isnt great. Obviously his injury on saturday was just unfortunate but he has previous.

For me it would depend on what league we’re in and what money we have available. If we get promoted, we should look for better.
